CRESCENT BEACH: SAND DUNES + SUNNY SKIES

Crescent Beach in the nearby town of Cape Elizabeth, is located eight miles south of Portland on Route 77. Part of Crescent Beach State Park, this classic sandy beach features grass-studded sand dunes, ocean breezes, herring gulls, picnic areas, and views of fishing boats and an offshore island.

The mile-long crescent shaped beach is popular with families due to its gentle surf and its easy walking and sunbathing. The Park also has a snack bar, picnic tables, bike racks, restrooms, cold water showers, lifeguards, and plenty of parking. In the off-season, when the park is closed to vehicles, walkers are welcome to enjoy the tranquility of the beaches and trails, or cross-country ski on its paths, as inviting under snow-covered boughs as they are in dappled summer sun.
