Sur Lie is a tapas-style restaurant in the heart of downtown Portland. Sur Lie offers farm to table, tapas-style dining.
Chef Sam Helmke offers taste centered cuisine in a charming environment that is affordable while promoting self-sustained products from the state of Maine. Sur Lie invites you to experience their fine food, fine wine and an attractive atmosphere for all to enjoy.
Sur Lie is female owned and operated! It was a James Beard semi-finalist for Outstanding Hospitality and Outstanding Restauranteur. It also was named Conde Naste Traveler’s top 15 restaurants in Portland, Maine in October of 2025.
