JON & SAMONE AMARAL

York, Maine

After getting engaged in Barcelona, Spain, and looking forward to a move to London, England in the coming months, we had a limited window to find the ideal location for our wedding. Despite moving abroad, we knew we wanted to get married surrounded by all of our family and friends in New England.

Growing up in Massachusetts, we had both spent many summers vacationing in Southern Maine. After visiting venues in Newport, Rhode Island, the South Shore of Massachusetts and the Southern coast of Maine there was no question that Maine was the place we wanted to have our wedding. Many of our guests were traveling from overseas and other parts of the US, so we wanted to choose a place that was a weekend destination with a lot to do and see.

Lucky for us, we stumbled upon Union Bluff Meeting House in York during our search. It had everything we were looking for and more in a wedding venue, with a friendly and helpful staff, breathtaking views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and a spacious ballroom to accommodate our large wedding.

“On the day of the wedding, it was fabulous to walk around the streets of York and run into friends and family exploring the area. “

-Jon & Samone (the couple)

We decided to have a First Look with the picturesque Nubble Light House as our backdrop. York Trolley Company picked us up from Union Bluff while accompanied by our amazing photographers Suzanne and Dan from Artifact Images. We returned to Union Bluff to have our beautiful ceremony overlooking the ocean, following which we walked next door to the gorgeous ballroom to enjoy a delicious plated dinner. For the rest of the night, our DJ Jim Bean kept the dance floor full with his infectious energy and great tunes.

We capped off our weekend with a send-off brunch at Union Bluff for all of our guests. It was the perfect way to say our goodbyes to everybody before taking off for our honeymoon that evening. Having a destination wedding can seem like a daunting task, but with all of the right vendors there for support, we had a seamless experience even while planning most of our wedding from London.
