About Us

RWS is a closed-door workspace inhabiting over 16,000 square feet in a muraled industrial building in the eclectic East Bayside neighborhood of Portland, Maine. Facilities include private studios, open-air studios, associate workspaces, communal areas, and shared equipment. It comprises three main departments: clay, print, and wood.

Our studios are a community where members share equipment, ideas, tools, and support.

Events;

RWS invites the public into the studios twice a year for our Open Studios, the first weekend in October, and the Holiday Sale in mid-December. Print Jam, our large, outdoor community art event, is in July every other year and features local artists printing oversize woodblocks with an asphalt roller in our parking lot. Studio tours, special events, and meetings are available by invitation, appointment, and during community events.
