About Us

I’m Dugan and this is my tour company. I absolutely relish the task of creating personalized and delightful experiences for guests. Well over 31,000 people have enjoyed tours with me! I am a full-time professional public historian, former director of a statewide museums association, and the official tour partner of Maine Historical Society. Aside from the nerdy stuff, I also have a history with stage performance, sharing Maine humor and New England folk dance across North America.

I’m inspired by the intriguing, surprising, empowering — and too often untold — stories of marginalized communities, peoples, and histories. I design each lovingly crafted tour to broaden your sense of what Portland and Maine have been and could be, taking you on a journey beyond what other tours offer. Learn local Black history and many other topics left out of the history books. You’ll leave feeling brighter and more curious about not just Portland, but the wider world.

I offer scheduled tours daily April through November. I’m also available for private tours year-round. I highly recommend booking in advance, as my tours often sell out.

Book online or by calling or texting me at 207-200-5885. Purchase individual tickets or make it a private tour for your group!

A portion of every ticket sale will help fund the restoration of the Abyssinian Meeting House, the third-oldest Black church still standing in the US.
