TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO COVID-19
Until 2021, the Museum & Theatre will be located in the Arts District of downtown Portland at which time it will move to Thompson’s Point in the Libbytown neighborhood. The tenth largest visitor attraction in the state of Maine and named one of the top 12 children’s museums in the U.S. by Forbes Magazine, the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine is poised for significant growth in its new location. The theatre program—the oldest, continuously operating children’s theatre in the nation—will occupy a 100-seat auditorium in the new building.

About Us

The Museum & Theatre offers experiential discovery, playful education, and joyful exploration in performing and visual arts, science, and culture for children, teens, families, teachers, and caregivers.

During the pandemic closure, the Museum & Theatre continues to offer traveling programs to camps, recreational programs, and private groups through physically-distanced programming.

Participatory online educational programming-including At Home Together livestreaming, Maine Youth Playwriting Challenge Online, WCTM Kids Newscast, and customized school programs-continue to serve the community.
