The Bombardment of Falmouth, 1775 The 250th Anniversary of Maine’s Baptism by Fire. On October 8th, 1775, on the eve of the War of Independence, Captain Mowatt of the Canceaux was ordered by Admiral Graves to bombard Falmouth (now Portland) and burn the town to ashes. On the 250th anniversary of this catastrophic event, you will hear from the spirits of participants, witnesses, and victims about the events leading up to, and including, the tragic destruction of Falmouth.

Sundays, October 19th and 26th – entry from 5:30 – 6:30 pm.

Groups enter every 20 minutes, each walk will last roughly 40 minutes First come, first served Event takes place at the Eastern Cemetery (224 Congress St., Portland). Tickets are available at the gate or on Eventbrite. $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 & under.
