The Mystery of Miss Pattee

This program is part of our series Notorious: Maine Crime in the Public Eye, 1690–1940 and offered in conjunction with the exhibit of the same name. When digging into the history of an old house in Maine’s Belgrade region, Linda Snow McLoon uncovered the fascinating story of a mystery woman who built it on Salmon Lake in 1906. While “Miss Pattee” tried to keep her family’s past a secret, the truth revealed the fascinating story of her father as one of the biggest crooks of the 1800s.
