The Cat and the Canary

Get into the Halloween spirit with a screening of The Cat and the Canary (1927), brought to life by Portland’s Municipal Organist James Kennerley, improvising a live score on the mighty Kotzschmar Organ. This silent comedy-horror classic follows heirs in a haunted mansion as secrets—and a lunatic—emerge. Inspired by composers like Louis Vierne, Kennerley heightens every suspenseful twist, blending vintage cinema, live artistry, and Halloween chills in this annual tradition.
