Pathways to Freedom

MHS’s 2026 exhibition explores the lives of six real Mainers, “Pathfinders,” during the American Revolution. Representing diverse perspectives, they reflect what has long made Maine “Maine.” Visitors will discover how these individuals understood freedom and nationhood—and how the birth of the U.S. shaped their lives.
