Crime & Injustice Tour

From villains whose crimes against humanity turned vast profits and poisoned geopolitics across the Atlantic World, to the resisters whose acts of defiance expanded freedoms for modern-day Americans, you’ll step through the centuries while enjoying an insider’s view of both the city’s prime sightseeing spots and less-visited landmarks. Riots, battles, mayhem, and criminal hijinks from generations past come alive with horror and humor, impropriety and inspiration.

The Crime & Injustice Walking Tour includes 2 hours of entertaining and enlightening historical narration over a 1.5-mile route through downtown Congress Street, the Arts District, West End neighborhood, and Old Port. Owner, guide, and entertainer, Dugan Murphy, takes guests to the homes and businesses of scoundrels, scammers, and criminals whose heinous deeds are the thing of local legend. Walk the streets they walked and be captivated by their stories.

A recipient of Tripadvisor’s 2023 Best of the Best Awards, Dugan is the top-ranked guide in Maine, #2 in New England, #12 nationwide, and in the top 1% of historical tour guides worldwide. Well over 26,000 guests have taken tours with him! Join us rain or shine May 1 through November 11.

Visit www.portlandbythefoot.com for full tour details, including real-time booking availability, meet-up location, photos, and more. Purchase individual tickets or make it a private tour for your group! Owner and guide Dugan Murphy can also be reached at 207-200-5885 or hi@portlandbythefoot.com.

A portion of every ticket sale will help fund the restoration of the Abyssinian Meeting House, Maine’s oldest—and America’s third-oldest—standing Black church.
