In this casual Filmmaker Roundtable, MOFF Filmmakers shareshare how they came to the character, narrative and/or subject in their piece. How did you land on the story that only you can tell, build trust with the people at the center of your film, and navigate the creative process from concept to creation?

Panelists:

Moderator: Noah Keates – Filmmaker, Maine Outdoor Film Festival’s Short Film Programmer Noah Keates is a documentary filmmaker from Portland, ME, specializing in verite storytelling and outdoor adventure film. As a producer for Lone Wolf Media in South Portland, he has worked on all genres of docuseries from Animal Rescue to True Crime Investigation to Shipwreck Discovery. He is an avid trail runner as well and loves to spotlight individuals across the sport.

Rob Holmes – Filmmaker, MOUNTAIN BIKING THROUGH SACRED LAND Rob founded GLP in 2008 with the simple goal of building a unique and successful production and marketing company committed to award-winning authentic storytelling on important global issues. Rob has a diverse background in multi-media production, storytelling, conservation, tourism, and entrepreneurship. Prior to GLP, Rob has worked with leading organizations, including The Nature Conservancy, Appalachian Mountain Club, Woodland Park Zoo, Trails.com, and REI.

Tom Bell – Filmmaker, SALT MARSH Tom Bell’s previous documentary, An Extraordinary Place, has won numerous awards, including “Best Short Film” at the Maine International Film Festival and “Best Short Documentary” at the Barcelona Indie Awards. Bell is a former newspaper reporter and lives in Yarmouth, Maine.

Parker Michels-Boyce – Filmmaker, CATCHING PINECONES Award-winning editorial photographer and multimedia journalist, for news, magazine, commercial, portrait and event coverage.

Caity Grant – Filmmaker, TOGETHER AGAIN Caity Grant is the Founder and Director of Groundswell Media Lab, a Maine-based video production and storytelling company.
