Summer 2025 Visitation and Economic Impact in Maine
The Maine Office of Tourism has come out with the Visitation and Economic Impact Report from this past summer.
Here are some key takeaways:
- Despite fewer visitors, visitors spent nearly the name number of days in Maine mostly due to longer overnight stays.
- Direct spend per visitor increased 2.5%.
- As expected, visitors from Canada accounted for 4% of overall visitation this summer down 3% points from 2024.
- 99% were satisfied; 97% will recommend a visit to Maine; 94% will return for a future visit.
Jamaica Relief Efforts

Hurricane Melissa has had a devastating impact on Jamaica, leaving many without homes or resources. Each year, we are fortunate to welcome many seasonal employees from Jamaica who help us navigate our busiest months. Today, some of them remain here in Maine—unsure of what they’ll return to.
Thanks to the leadership of Wallesha Allen, Senior Sales Manager at the Portland Regency Hotel and proud Jamaica native, and the team at the Portland Regency, Visit Portland has joined forces with the Portland Regency Hotel, HospitalityMaine, and the Maine Tourism Association to launch a humanitarian relief drive to support those affected.
Drop off items at various locations by December 12.
- Portland Regency Hotel
- Kittery Visitor Information Center
- Yarmouth Visitor Information Center
- Visit Portland offices at 1375 Congress Street
