Spring Point Ledge Light Trust
No visit to Maine should be without a few lighthouse tours! The Spring Point Ledge Light is small, historic, and beautiful in its architecture and setting. The city of South Portland and Cape Elizabeth boast 5 lighthouses within a short walking, driving, or biking distance from each other.
About Us
Portland and South Portland are very busy working waterfronts. The location of the Spring Point Ledge Light allows visitors to experience the ship traffic first-hand, without getting wet!
When it was built, the lighthouse was surrounded by water and only accessible by boat. In 1951, a 950 ft breakwater was constructed to dissuade boat traffic from running aground on the shallow granite ledge. Today, one can walk around the entire lighthouse. Plentiful wildlife and boat traffic are visible from all sides.
We run a small gift shop on shore that features lighthouse souvenirs and made-in-Maine gifts.
Public tours are led by volunteers throughout July-August, or can be privately arranged through the Spring Point Ledge Light Trust at [email protected]
