The Farnsworth Art Museum invites you to celebrate Maine’s extraordinary influence on American art. Located on a historic campus in the heart of downtown Rockland, the museum is home to a nationally recognized collection of almost 16,000 works, featuring artists who were born in Maine, lived here, or found inspiration along its rugged coast and vibrant communities. From the Wyeth family and Louise Nevelson to contemporary artists shaping today’s creative landscape, the Farnsworth offers a uniquely Maine perspective on the story of American art.
Olson House
One of Maine’s most iconic landmarks, the Olson House is forever linked to Andrew Wyeth, whose celebrated paintings—including Christina’s World—were inspired by the home, its residents, and the surrounding landscape. Visitors can tour the grounds of this National Historic Landmark and discover the place that became one of the most recognizable settings in American art.
Wyeth Center
Dedicated to the remarkable artistic legacy of the Wyeth family, the Wyeth Center is the only museum space in the country devoted exclusively to the work of N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, and Jamie Wyeth. Through rotating exhibitions drawn from the Farnsworth’s renowned collection, visitors can explore the creativity of three generations of one of America’s most influential artistic families and discover the enduring connection between their work and the landscapes and people of Maine.
