Whitewater Rafting

Whitewater Rafting

THRILLS FOR THE OUTDOOR ADVENTURER

scenic floats to high octane fun

From scenic float trips to challenging Class V rapids, Maine’s rafting centers and resorts take full advantage of the state’s three major rafting rivers to provide true outdoor adventure. Groups and families are welcome, no experience required – just a taste for adventure.

Maine’s popular Penobscot River provides one of the most spectacular and challenging whitewater river experiences in the eastern United States with its reputation for the ultimate in rapids (experience the Exterminator and the Staircase, for example) and superb scenery. The Kennebec River delivers high adventure with its memorable Upper Gorge wilderness ride. The Dead River, a rafting favorite, features 16 miles of continuous whitewater, with rapids such as the Mine Field and the infamous Poplar Falls.

In addition to Class I to V action and classic Maine views, outfitters provide the equipment and guide, along with amenities such as BBQ lunches, hearty meals back at camp, and after-parties where guests can sip a handcrafted brew from a nearby brewery and relive the excitement with photo and video screenings of the day’s ride.
