Friends of the Eastern Promenade

Designed in 1905 by the Olmsted Brothers, the Eastern Promenade is a 68 acre historic landscape on the northeastern slope of Portland’s peninsula where the city meets the sea. Friends and families gather year round to enjoy trails, bird watching, biking, picnic, relax and breathe in glorious view of the island studded Casco Bay.

About Us

Tennis, basketball, baseball, kite flying, sledding and snowshoeing are also popular. Kids love the playground and there are designated voice control areas for dogs to romp. East End Beach offers kayaking and SUP rentals, windsurfing and rowing.

Special events include the “Hidden Gardens of Munjoy Hill” tour, Summer Concerts July & August and July 4th fireworks.

Explore the rich history Fort Allen Park which includes the USS Maine Cannon, USS Portland, Grand Army of the Republic bench and civil war Cannons at the southerly side of the Park.
