Those visiting Portland in July who are fortunate enough to wander just across the bridge to the town of South Portland may encounter a street fair in full swing. The Mill Creek Art Festival celebrates the community with a weekend-long event of art, music, dance, theater, and participation from local businesses and residents. The festival, which is used to provide exposure to local businesses and fund community improvements, is always a showcase of the town’s unique flavor from the wonderful to the wacky.
Visitors will enjoy strolling through the booths of the artisan’s area, and find local dancers, martial arts performers, and theater studios showing off their talents. A Pet Plaza provides a venue for skilled dogs to put on a show of agility, and a chance to delight humans at a doggie kissing booth. Kids will find lots of ways to engage here, including face painting, arts and crafts, a climbing wall and dunk tank. Adults will enjoy the beer and wine garden, and all will love the trampoline acts, Elvis impersonators, hypnotists, and food vendors – there is truly something for everyone.
