More About Southern Maine Community College:
The Peter A. McKernan Hospitality Center
Located on the coast with spectacular views of Casco Bay, SMCC is proud to operate the Peter A. McKernan Hospitality Center, where Hospitality Management students complete their educational internship. Built in 1902 as a double officer's quarters, the building is part of the former Fort Preble, which protected Portland Harbor from the Revolutionary War through World War II. Through the generosity of the voters and many private citizens of Maine, the building was restored and renovated in 1993 to be used as a training facility for students in the SMCC Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management programs.
Visitors to SMCC have the option of staying in one of the eight lovely McKernan Hospitality Center guest rooms, each with beautiful views of the water and lighthouses.
Your room stay includes a continental breakfast and turndown service. Check-in is after 3:00 pm; check-out is by 10:00 am
