TOURISM IMPROVEMENT DISTRICTS (TID)
Visit Portland along with Portland tourism leaders and advocates are embarking on a prospective project to create a new long term model for a supplemental dedicated and sustainable source of revenue for tourism marketing for the Greater Portland area.
STEERING COMMITTEE MISSION & ROLES
The mission of the Steering Committee is to develop consensus around key issues, guide the development of the Management District Plan (MDP), guide the direction of the TID, and develop support for the MDP, concentrating on policy decisions and program outcomes. The term of this commitment is estimated to be about 12 months.
Roles of the Steering Committee
Monitor, guide and provide a stakeholder perspective for the process to form the TID.
Periodically meet with staff and the consultant team, plus review and critique draft reports and plans.
Encourage stakeholders (i.e. hotel representatives) to attend focus groups, plan review workshops and any other participatory forums.
Become a community resource for the various elements of the TID.
Evolve into a “sales team” that will assist the consultants and DMO.
