Mechanics’ Hall

An historic building built in 1859 located in the Portland Arts District. There are several beautiful spaces for rent, depending on the size of your event. There is a magnificent 2891 sq ft ballroom with 20’ ceilings and hardwood floors – perfect for large gatherings or weddings. The building also contains the 8th oldest member library in the country – as well as an 850 sq ft classroom/gallery space for smaller functions. The boardroom, at 375 sq ft, is perfect for more intimate meetings.

About Us

The Maine Charitable Mechanic Association has about 300 members. Members have the use of the historic library on Congress Street and may attend events including readings by local and national authors and travel lectures presented by producers of films from around the world.
