Tate House Presents Two Centuries of Maine Shipbuilding: A Visual History

Portland—On Wednesday, September 14 at 7PM the Tate House Museum presents the fourth in its series of outdoor lectures on the lawn of the museum.

Nathan Lipfert, Curator Emeritus of the Maine Maritime Museum, will offer an illustrated talk about the history of Maine shipyards, and the shipbuilders and vessels they built, concentrating on the 200 years since statehood. During the wooden shipbuilding era, Maine shipyards built more ships than any other state, and every coastal community participated in this industry.
