Harold Lieberman Performs!

Maine Craft Portland is proud to present a special musical guest in celebration for PRIDE month this First Friday Art Walk!

Portland Symphony Orchestra performer Harold Lieberman will be performing two works for solo viola; one by Benjamin Britten and the other by George Frederic Handel. These two composers were chosen to help celebrate PRIDE month in Portland, as both were notable gay composers and incredible artists.

Harold Lieberman has been a member of the Portland Symphony viola section since 1989 and has in that time occupied every chair in the section. He also plays with the Rhode Island Philharmonic and the Vermont Symphony. In addition to the modern viola, he has performed around New England on the baroque viola, viola da gamba, and viola d’amore, performing with the Handel and Haydn Society, the Ecclesia Consort of Rhode Island, and the Boston Camerata. Mr. Lieberman has also been active in LGBT+ politics since the 1970s. While listening to this spectacular music you can also view our on-going group show HEY HANDSOME! A Show of Rugged Attire and Accessories on exhibition through June 26th.
