More About Maine Brew Bus:

Having a designated driver to guide you to both established and up-and-coming producers offers an opportunity to learn much more about the craft alcohol business than you could learn on your own. Tours are led by expert guides in addition to a knowledgeable designated driver to ensure the best possible experience for our guests as well as for the businesses with which we partner. The all-inclusive tours on our bright green school buses provide you a behind-the-scenes look at Maine's craft breweries, distilleries, wineries, and more. We offer daily scheduled and private tours in Greater Portland and Southern Maine. We also offer frequent specialty and adventure tours, and we even partner with local teams for tours that end at minor league hockey and baseball games. The fleet now includes four buses and additional staff. We are proud that we have been awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence each of the last three years because of our highly rated tours. Our first stop for a tour and lunch will be Sebago Brewing Co. Founded in 1998, Sebago Brewing has become Maine’s premier contemporary American brewpub and one of the fastest growing craft breweries in the state. With four pubs located throughout Southern Maine, and an impressive brand new production facility in Gorham, they clearly demonstrate a refusal to stay with traditions that often can be found in a company with 20 years in the business. The new 31,000 square foot brewery and a four vessel, fully-automated, 40-barrel brew house more than doubles the size of the facility that had produced their beers for a dozen years. The need for this new modern brewery was made clear with amazing growth over the past several years of their year-round core beers, five seasonal beers and several highly anticipated, limited-edition Single Batch Series beers.

Next we’ll be visiting Yes Brewing. Longtime homebrewers John Bigelow and Brady Frost wanted their company Yes Brewing to bring something unique to the area craft brewing scene. What if a small brewery could make small batches of typical styles, but then also use very unique ingredients to complement their beer? After partnering with brothers Brady and Troy Frost, Westbrook’s second brewery opened their 2,400 square-foot facility in June of 2017. Quickly people have figured out that mint can exist in an IPA, and that jalapeno pale ale is actually pretty good. Check out how they are able to produce enough of their beer on a small system while sipping on one of their newest offerings.

For our final stop, we’ll be visiting Lone Pine Brewing. After working in the retail side of beer for over a decade, Tom Madden decided that the time was right to break into producing his own beer. A long-time home brewer and Certified Cicerone, he reconnected with his longtime friend John Paul who had been working in the music industry in California. Together, they opened Lone Pine in March of 2016 in a former countertop production space in Portland’s East Bayside and quickly enjoyed tremendous success and popularity. In late 2017, Lone Pine announced they had purchased the former Sebago Brewing brewing facility in Gorham, a move which has increased their production volume by ten-fold.

Once we’ve finished the Casco Fiasco tour, we’ll drop you back off at Old Port Spirits and Cigars, where you can purchase some beer for later and is an excellent location to continue your exploration of lively downtown Portland.
