More About Maine Brew Bus:

Having a designated driver to guide you to both established and up-and-coming producers offers an opportunity to learn much more about the craft alcohol business than you could learn on your own. Tours are led by expert guides in addition to a knowledgeable designated driver to ensure the best possible experience for our guests as well as for the businesses with which we partner. The all-inclusive tours on our bright green school buses provide you a behind-the-scenes look at Maine's craft breweries, distilleries, wineries, and more. We offer daily scheduled and private tours in Greater Portland and Southern Maine. We also offer frequent specialty and adventure tours, and we even partner with local teams for tours that end at minor league hockey and baseball games. The fleet now includes four buses and additional staff. We are proud that we have been awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence each of the last three years because of our highly rated tours. If you feel it's never too early to start drinking great local beer, then the Beerunch! tour is designed for you! Leave the mimosa's behind and hop on the bus to check out three trendsetting breweries located in lively Portland locations.

Bissell Brothers Brewing was founded in December 2013 by brothers Noah and Peter Bissell, along with Noah’s college friend Seth. Their original brewery was located at the now-famous One Industrial Way. Their first release was The Substance, a hoppy American Pale Ale that was first released in cans in January 2014 and immediately created massive demand from beer lovers. Since those early days they have increased their production by at least 200% a year, necessitating the 2016 move of the entire brewery to Thompson’s Point in Portland. They now brew in a revitalized space 10 times the size of their old brewery that was built in 1904 and once served as a railcar repair location for the Maine Central Railroad. They received a larger brewhouse during 2017, and sent their original system north to begin brewing for their second location in their hometown of Milo, Maine.

Next up, we will take you to Foulmouthed Brewing. Veteran home-brewers Craig Dilger and Bill Boguski have joined forces to bring Foulmouthed Brewing to life in South Portland. Their brewpub has been built inside a former auto and boat repair facility, and the brewery is also well designed for large-scale production. Opened in June of 2016, Foulmouthed provides a unique assortment of beers that have been crafted to pair with the food turned out from their sunny kitchen. Learn about the origin of the name as you tour one of the most unique breweries in Maine.

Last on the tour is Oxbow Blending and Bottling. A dynamic brewery with a true farmhouse operation in Newcastle, Oxbow Brewing Company has opened a second tasting room and warehouse facility to better serve the Portland community. The hip space is bursting with graffiti by local artists and jammed with oak barrels to grow the company’s internationally-recognized wild beer program. This gives fans unprecedented access to a wide range of Oxbow’s hoppy saisons and funky experiments.

Even the snack for this tour is brunch related, as you will enjoy a locally baked breakfast-themed hand pie from our friends at Ten Ten Pie.

Once we’ve finished the Beerunch! tour, we’ll drop you back off at Old Port Spirits and Cigars, where you can purchase some beer for later and is an excellent location to continue your exploration of lively downtown Portland.
