Always the third Friday in July, the
Yarmouth Clam Festival attracts visitors from all over Maine and beyond, as well as locals who line up their beach chairs on the side of the main drag a few days before the parade for the best possible seat in the house. Local bands play underneath tents well into the warm summer evening. Seafood is available in abundance - especially those famous and delicious Maine clams that the festival gets its name from. This seasoned tradition wouldn't be complete without a full-fledged carnival (complete with a gigantic Ferris Wheel that offers awe-inspiring views of Yarmouth from the very top), that makes adults feel like children again.
This festival is a celebration of the local community; with events such as a clam-shucking contest, street dancing, running races, a professional bike race, firefighter's muster, and even a diaper derby! You'll experience over 40 musical acts and entertainers who perform on four stages, and approximately 165 crafters, artists, and photographers who display and sell their work.
Come enjoy this long history of locals and non-locals gathering together for a weekend of summer fun.
