If you decide not to take to the skies to get here, you have a wealth of other options:
- For motorists traveling from northeast cities, access by auto is a breeze; Portland is situated adjacent to Interstate 95, just 2 hours north of Boston and less than 4 hours from Hartford.
- Portland is also serviced by national and regional bus lines, which offer numerous routes into the city, and seasonal auto and passenger ferry service from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
- You can also ride the rails to Portland on the Downeaster, Amtrak's passenger service between Boston and Portland. Portland's train station is centrally-located, just 5 minutes from the airport, area hotels and Portland's waterfront. Click here for more information on the Downeaster.
