Comments:
Portland is gay-friendly because progressive politics have a strong foothold in the city, and that helps its LGBT citizens feel comfortable in their own skin. The level of support that our community received from Portland voters during the fight to retain marriage equality affirmed this. I love Portland's calm energy. With its abundance of excellent food, art, and parks, I rarely get stressed out. I find it really easy to get involved, whether it's with a social activity or political campaigns.
Recommended Places & Activities:
Peaks Island, First Friday Art Walk, Sidewalk Art Festival, Portland Museum of Art, local bakeries (especially Big Sky, Borealis, Standard Baking Company, and Two Fat Cats), playing tennis on the Eastern Promenade (one of the best views from any tennis court around), the Farmers' Market, outdoor ice skating at Deering Oaks Park during the winter, movies at the Nickelodeon Cinema.
