1. Take the train to Old Orchard Beach, and hop on one of the thrilling rides for kids of all ages that overlook the ocean at Palace Playland, soak up the sun on the seven-mile stretch of sandy beach, and watch professionals light up the sky with fireworks every Thursday.

2. Enjoy the rides at the Funtown/Splashtown U.S.A. water and amusement park, home to Maine’s only wooden roller coaster.  The park offers circuitous rides, slides, pools, giftshops, arcades and eating facilities.

3. Engage in a Maine tradition and ice skate on the pond at
Deering Oaks Park, an activity that's fun for all ages to glide around taking in the translucent scenery that dates back to 1700.

4. Get a 360 degree view of nature at the Maine Wildlife Park, featuring tons of things to see and do all revolving around the natural beauty of Maine.

5. Fly a kite at Bug Light Park in South Portland.  Kids can run around on 4 acres of plush grass at sea level surrounded by magnificent Casco Bay.

6. Visit "Eartha," the world’s largest revolving and rotating globe at DeLorme, located in Yarmouth, and kids will be in awe at the sheer size this magnificent masterpiece.

7. Enjoy plentiful recreation at Pineland Farms, offering farm tours, creamery tours, and a world of outdoor activities on 5,000 acres of admirable woodlands and fields.

8. Stop by the 2-acre Children's Garden at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, which offers children a place where they can use their imagination for play and discovery, thrill in the wonders of nature, enjoy activities that are fun and educational, and explore features galore.

9. Visit Lenny, the world’s only life-sized chocolate moose, at Len Libby Handmade Candies in Scarborough.

10. Step back in time at 19th Century Willowbrook Village, and walk around from building to building observing all the necessities needed to live back in time.

11. Take a ferry ride on Casco Bay Lines and take the kids to explore one of the beautiful islands, not visible by car. Enjoy the summer sun while picnicking in surroundings of tranquility.

12. All Aboard! Travel to Boothbay Railway Village and Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co, which offer antique train rides the whole family can enjoy.
