Since April 2008, FairPoint Communications has invested more than $196 million in its telecommunications infrastructure and technology to bring broadband to northern New England. With more than 15,000 miles of fiber and access to 95 percent of all businesses, it is by far the most robust and ubiquitous network in northern New England.

FairPoint’s new fiber-based, high capacity network offers business and residential customers a better, faster way to communicate. The network delivers a full-range of communications services from voice to carrier Ethernet based services – and unlike most providers, its network offers both a statewide and interstate network solution to help streamline operations between the three northern New England states.
The network is designed to meet the future demand for high-speed bandwidth in northern New England. This network meets the bandwidth needs of some of the region’s largest institutions like regional health care facilities, financial institutions, and government and education entities.

“FairPoint Communications is committed to strengthening our local communities,” said Mike Reed, Maine state president for FairPoint. “This commitment means more than providing customers with Internet, phone and video services. It means making investments in the growth of our communities. Our goal is to make state-of-the-art technologies available so that Maine can attract economic opportunities and jobs.”
FairPoint employs more than 1,200 employees in Maine who live in more than 250 communities all across the state. “Our employees are working every day to build more broadband across the state,” said Reed. “We work here. We live here. And we want Maine to be successful.”
FairPoint recognizes the value of technology as a powerful tool for creating real change in the way we communicate, conduct business, educate our children, serve customers and build economies. By employing technology, FairPoint is committed to improving the quality of life of our customers and communities in Maine.
