The Amtrak Downeaster makes five round trips daily between Boston's North Station and Portland - serving convenient locations along the way.

The Portland Transportation Center (PTC) is located minutes from downtown Portland. Plenty of transportation connections make it easy to get around Maine's largest city.

Onboard the Downeaster, you will enjoy quiet, comfortable reclining seats with lots of legroom and space to move around.

Watch the scenery unfold before you as you sit back and relax in comfortable, spacious seats and enjoy a snack or beverage from the Cafe.

Enjoy fold-down trays, overhead reading lights, and convenient luggage racks.

Stay connected with free Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets for laptops and other electronic devices.

And, of course, we have plenty of spacious clean restrooms.

The Downeaster Cafe, typically located at the end of the train, offers breakfast sandwiches, Green Mountain coffee, Shipyard microbrews, wine, nonalcoholic beverages, as well as fresh Amato’s Italian sandwiches, light meals and friendly service. Roomy tables are also available for your convenience.

All Downeaster trains welcome passengers with special needs. Our trains and stations are wheelchair-accessible, allow service dogs, and offer assistance whenever needed.

The Downeaster is a reserved service and tickets should be purchased in advance of travel.
